Long Term Recovery Survey

Attention all nurses (and nursing students) in recovery from addictive disorders. We are seeking your participation in a nationwide survey on long-term recovery. We also hope you will help us disseminate this information to your recovering nursing colleagues so that we may be as inclusive as possible. This survey will be available on the internet for only 90 days.

Purpose of Study: To determine what works best for nurses to achieve long-term recovery from addiction, and successful reentry into nursing practice.

Anticipated Benefits: The participant will assist this research with a better understanding of the extent of addiction in nurses, the recovery process and reentry challenges. This information will hopefully aid those advocating for nurses as they seek improved opportunities for support from peer assistance efforts, regulatory boards, insurance providers and treatment communities.

Survey Sample: ALL NURSES (and nursing students) in recovery are invited to participate in this nationwide study conducted by the Peer Assistance Advisors of the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists. The survey tool will be available via the internet and can also be downloaded and returned by mail for those unable to access the Web. All surveys are confidential, no identifiers will be utilized in this study and there will be no follow-up contacts. However the results will be available approximately one month after the completion of the survey period on www.aana.com/peer.

How to participate: Go to
www.aana.com/peer/survey/default.asp
and complete the questionnaire online. Each survey completed via the Internet greatly reduces our cost however mailed surveys are acceptable and ALL are greatly valued. Share information on this survey NOW with your colleagues in recovery at work in nurse support groups, treatment community alumni emails, nursing schools, peer advocacy programs, etc.

With the recent passing of the ANA resolution advocating for nurses with addictive disorders we have a momentum for change. Please help us carry this effort to the next level. Thanking in advance all those who make the effort to volunteer their time in participation so that others may benefit from their experience.
